Scholarships for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students

Being deaf can make traditional learning tough. But for those who succeed and have plans for college, you need to know that there are scholarships for deaf students that you may be able to win.

One such scholarship is from Seratoma and is a scholarship for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This is a $1000 scholarship that can be used for books, tuition, and supplies.

In order to qualify for the scholarships for deaf students from Seratoma, the student must be a US citizen and have a minimum 40dB bilateral hearing loss as evidenced on audiogram by an SRT of 40dB or greater in both ears. You must also be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and have a 3.2 GPA. This can be either a high school GPA or college.

If you have found yourself on the receiving end of a life-threatening illness but still have the desire of attending college then you need to apply for the Scholarships for Cancer Survivors (and other life-threatening illnesses).

The Patient Advocate Foundation is offering scholarships for cancer survivors for the 2010/2011 school year. In order to be eligible for the scholarships, you must be under the age of 25 and a survivor/current patient of a diagnosis of cancer or a critical or life threatening disease and submit a a written documentation from your treating physician stating your medical history. Plus you must show a financial need and include copies of the first two pages of your tax returns.

The Scholarships for Cancer Survivors is worth $3000, which is split between the fall and spring semesters, and there will be 11 scholarships awarded.
