Nursing Scholarships for Dads and Students
With so many people losing their jobs due to cutbacks or just plain having their positions done away with, most are looking to go back to school and enter a new field. One career path that many are taking is in medicine. According to the projection by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a need for more than a million new and replacement registered nurses by the year 2016. This makes the field of nursing very desirable by many. But sometimes the cost of this education will hold some would-be nurses back.
However, thanks to a nursing scholarship program in Virginia, many students may be able to enter the medical field. The University of Virginia School of Nursing has received funds from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing via the foundation’s New Careers in Nursing Scholarship program. This scholarship program will be awarding scholarships for dads and men and underrepresented minorities.
Scholarship money will be given to those underrepresented groups of students including non-traditional students, men, and minorities.
At the University of Virgina there will be five $10,000 scholarships awarded to students entering accelerated nursing programs during the current academic year.
