Scholarship Available from DuPont

If you live within two miles of the DuPont Plant in Louisville, then you may be able to receive a scholarship from DuPont. This scholarship available from DuPont is due to a class action lawsuit that was filed over odors and pollution caused by the DuPont plant.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an adult with a high school diploma or GED and living in one of the thousands of households that did not opt out of the settlement.

“The new endowment fund of $482,863 will provide scholarships to help defray educational expenses in several areas, including undergraduate study at two- and four-year colleges, vocational or technical educational courses, training to help someone attain a certificate or degree, or graduate study. The number of scholarships granted will depend on the number of qualifying applications received, he said, adding that the foundation expects the endowment to grow through investments in the coming years.” stated Mark Stewart a spokesman for the foundation.

Agriculture Scholarship from UK

The University of Kentucky offers an Agriculture Scholarship. This scholarship is based on a student’s GPA in high school, writing ability, ACT/SAT scores, and leadership potential.

To be eligible you must apply for admission to UK with a major in the college of agriculture by the January 15th deadline, complete the first-year scholarship application, have ACT/SAT scores that can be verified, and write a 500-word essay that answers the question on the application.

Horse Scholarship from the AHF

The Arabian Horse Foundation is offering horse scholarships on the basis of academic ability, financial need, and equine involvement. You have to be a member of AHA to apply.

The American Horse Foundation awarded over $35,500 in youth scholarships in the past two years. Just this month the AHF has established a scholarship in honor of Patrick Swayze, who with his wife owned two Arabian horses. This scholarship will be awarded to a youth, who seeks a career in the performing arts and also is involved with Arabian horses.

Apply for Scholarships – Cumberland Farms

If you are starting to Apply for Scholarships now for the 2010/2011 school year then you need to be aware of the scholarship being offered by Cumberland Farms.

In order to qualify to apply for this scholarship you must be a high school senior or recipient of a GED and under the age of 25. You must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course in a two or four-year accredited institution. You must also reside within a 30-mile radius of a Cumberland Farms retail location.

You can Apply for Scholarships from the Cumberland Farms Achieve and Believe Scholarship even if you are a child of Cumberland Farms’ employees as long as other criteria is met.

There will be up to 130 scholarships awarded in the amount of $1000 each.

Scholarships for Texas Tech

Texas Tech University offers merit-based scholarships, need-based scholarships, and scholarships from outside the school.

Just by applying for admission, students will have automatically applied for the merit-based scholarship and nothing else is required. However, if you want to be considered for the institutional competitive scholarships you must have specific testing qualifications and apply for those scholarships.

There is also a scholarship that will allow a non-resident student to be eligible to pay in-state tuition rates if he or she receives an institutional competitive scholarship or merit-based scholarship award or awards totaling at least $1,000 for the academic year and/or summer for which the student is enrolled.

The Robert C. Byrds Honors Scholarship will be accepting applications December 1, 2009, through February 1, 2010. In order to be eligible for this scholarship you must be a legal resident of Kentucky and a US citizen, be between the ages of 18 and 25 and have applied or been accepted to a higher education institution within the US. And you must be a graduate of a secondary education school in Kentucky or have received your GED. You must also be recommended by a school administrator or GED
