Scholarship for Children of Highway Workers
We may not give much thought to the men and women that we see working at the side of the roads other than how much the construction is tying up traffic, but, unfortunately, these people are sometimes killed or permanently disabled while working their jobs. And this can leave children without parents and a source of income.
This is the reason for the Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship. It is a scholarship program open to children, either biological or adopted, who have had a parent permanently disabled or killed in roadway construction zone accidents and the applicant’s parent must have been employed by a transportation construction firm or a transportation public agency at the time of his or her death or disabling
injury.
The scholarship applicant must also have a GPA of a 2.5, demonstrate a financial need, submit an essay on required topic.
Scholarship application must be postmarked by March 19th in order to be eligible. To find out more information go here.
