Strange Scholarships for Dads

and high school students


Everyone who is going back to school searches for money to help them pay for it. But many overlook the Strange Scholarships for Dads that are handed out yearly to those who qualify. You never know, maybe you qualify for one of these wacky scholarships too.

It seems that everyone is applying for grants and scholarship in order to lessen the financial burden of returning to school. And with all of the increased competition, it is is getting harder to get the help you need to cover tuition, books, and living expenses. But there are some Strange Scholarships for Dads that you may have not even thought much about and in which you may qualify to receive.

If you can answer “Yes” to any of these, then you may be able to receive one of these Strange Scholarships for Dads:

  1. Little People of America Scholarship: If you are a little person diagnosed with dwarfism you can apply. This scholarship is worth $250 to $1000 and sometimes more. To qualify Scholarships are given in order of preference to:
    • members of LPA who have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism
    • immediate family members of dwarfs who are also paid members of LPA
    • people with dwarfism who are not members of LPA

  2. Tall Clubs International: If you are you exceptionally tall (men over 6 feet 2 inches and women over 5 feet 10 inches) you may qualify. For more information go here.
  3. Duck Tape Stuck on the Prom Scholarship: If you are you crafty with Duck Tape and can you make prom attire out of it you might be able to win up to $3000 for school. For more information go here.
  4. American Welding Society: Do you want to study welding? I really never knew that there were so many welding scholarships. So if you want to be a welder, then check out the over a dozen welding scholarships from the American Welding Society. For more information go here.
  5. Greeting Card Scholarship: Can you make an award-winning greeting card? If so then you may be able to win a $10,000 scholarship. Check it out here.
  6. Burger King Scholarship: You can win a scholarship up to $1000 from the Have it Your Way Foundation. You can find the details at the Burger King Scholarship Post.
  7. American Association on Candy Technologists: If you have an interest in confectionery technology you may qualify for a candy scholarship. It is awarded in the amount of $5000 in two installments. To get more information go here.
  8. California Hotel and Lodging Scholarship: There are a few different scholarships available here, so if you are interested in a career in lodging management, you might want to apply for one of these scholarships. To get more information go here.
  9. New York State Hospitality and Tourism Scholarship: This is open to high school and college students who work at member properties or are dependents of employees working at member properties. This scholarship can be worth up to $6000. For more information go here.
  10. The AO Smith Scholarship: This scholarship is for American or Canadian citizen enrolled in a PHCC approved plumbing or HVACR apprentice program. So if you are majoring in plumbing and want more information go here.
  11. Duck Calling Scholarship: This scholarship is open to any high school senior who can call ducks and is awarded in the amount of $1500 plus there is also a duck calling contest that anyone can enter with prizes worth over $15,000. For more information go here.
  12. Arabian Horse Foundation Scholarship:The AHF is offing scholarships to youth based on need and who are a member of HFA and have involvement with equines (horses). There has also been a new Patrick Swayze scholarship setup by AHF for those involved with Arabian horses and who want to pursue a career in the performing arts.   13. Billiard Scholarship:The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) has a scholarship for high school seniors, who have benefited from the sport of billiards. For more information go to their website.
  14. Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship: If you are a son or daughter of a highway worker who was permanently disabled or killed while on the job, you may qualify for this highway worker scholarship. For more information go to their website.
  15. SAMMY Award: This is the Milk Mustache Scholarship Award. To be eligible, you must be a high school senior involved in a high school sport or club sport within application year. You must also have a 3.2 GPA and must be nominated either by self or a nominator. To find out more information go here.
  16. Fire Sprinkler Scholarship Contest: This is a scholarship open to all high school seniors. All you have to do is read an essay on fire sprinklers and answer 10 questions. For each right answer, you get one entry, up to 10. You may only enter once. For more information go here.
  17. Vegetarian Scholarships: This scholarship is for high school students who are vegetarians (do not eat meat, fowl, or fish) and who have promoted vegetarianism in their school/communities. For more information go here.
