Essay Scholarship for California Students
Assisted Dying Scholarship Essay Contest
For students living in California, there is a unique essay scholarship contest you can enter. The winner of this California scholarship is determined based on an essay you submit concerning aid in dying.
The writing prompt for this scholarship is “Why should California pass a law to establish aid in dying for terminally-ill patients who are suffering at the end of their lives?” You should become familiar with the issue of aid in dying including appropriate terminology. And if you have a personal story, you are welcomed to include that to illustrate your idea as long as it ties directly to your answer.
There will be three essay scholarships awarded, one $1000, one $500, and one $250. The essays will be judged on clarity of presentation, correct use of terminology, familiarity with the issues, original application of research, and potential shown by the author.
You must be an 11th or 12th grade California student and college bound in order to qualify to apply for this essay scholarship. Deadline is June 1, 2010. To find out more information about this scholarship and to apply, go here (under “News”).
