Non-Traditional Student Scholarships
Many people believe that scholarships and financial aid for students is reserved for those just leaving high school. But there are also Scholarships for Dads and the Non-Traditional Students and financial aid for adults. This free money is also considered another scholarships for dads possibility.
The first step anyone who want to attend college should take is to fill out the FAFSA form. This form will show you how much money you can qualify to receive from the government through the Pell grant, FSEOG, and others that are dependent on your income. However, this form cannot be completed until after January 1st of the year and since you must have your taxes completed before filling out the FAFSA, many cannot complete this step until after January and sometimes not until April.
But, the government is now offering potential students the ability to complete the FAFSA4Caster, which will allow you to input your information as best you can in order to get a ballpark range of how much grant money you may qualify to receive. This will give you at least an idea of how much money you will need to start searching for through the Scholarships for Dads and the Non-Traditional Students in order to reduce your educational costs.
You also need to ask each school that you are considering attending what special scholarships and financial aid for adults that they offer. You may be surprised to find that one of the schools on your list has a program that fits your needs and that you qualify for.
Scholarships for Dads and the Non-Traditional Students
- ASIST Scholarship: This scholarship is offered by each individual EWI (Executive Women International) chapter. This scholarship is open to adult students in transitional points of their lives and applications can be single parents, displaced workers, or those just entering the workforce. You must be financially in need and responsible for a small child(ren) in order to qualify plus you must have clearly defined career goals and objectives.
- Leading the Future II Scholarship:This scholarship is open to Americans over the age of 18, who are planning to attend or are already enrolled in an accredited undergraduate institution and documentation may be required. There is no cost to enter this scholarship, however, they limit the number of qualified applicants to 500 so as to reduce administration costs. You can find out more here.
- Rent-A-Center Make a Difference Scholarship:This scholarship opportunity is open to current customers and customers within the past two years who are in good standing, and their immediate family members (spouse or dependent children living in the customer’s household) of Rent-A-Center, Get It Now!, RAC Financial Services, or RAC Acceptance who live in the U.S. or Puerto Rico are eligible to apply. Applicants must plan to enroll or are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational technical school in the United States or Puerto Rico. - Southern Arkansas Non-Traditional Student Scholarship:This scholarship is for the student who has been out of high school at least five years and has completed at least one full-time semester of college work with at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average. Find out more information here.
- Disability Scholarship for Dads: If you are dependent upon a wheelchair, AmeriGlide has a $500 scholarship that is awarded twice a year. This scholarship is open to students who are enrolled in a two or four-year college with a GPA of 3.0 and who use an electric or manual wheelchair. To find out more go here.
- Kidney and Urology Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is open to those over the age of 25 who have been diagnosed with a kidney or urological disease. For more information go here.
