Single Parent Scholarships Available at DuPage
Illinois Single Parent Scholarships
Married and Single Dads and Moms are returning to school and searching for scholarships. The fact is that the economy has hit most of us pretty hard in the old pocketbook. Many are now without jobs, but the bills still keep rolling in each and every month, leaving many Americans on the brink of bankruptcy. This is the reason that there are so many adults returning to the educational scene. We have mouths to feed and kids who depend on us.
Thankfully, some of the institutions of higher learning are listening and are now offering some Single Parent Scholarships to those of us returning to school. After all, adult students are usually a better risk when it comes to scholarship and grant money. We know quite well what it means to do without and what it takes to make ends meet, which also makes us determined to succeed.
The College of DuPage is one such institution offering Single Parent Scholarships to residents of the 502 District in Illinois, which is most of DuPage County and parts of Cook County and Will County. To be eligible for these Single Parent Scholarships in Illinois you must be a resident of district 502, keep a continued GPA of at least 2.0, maintain at least a part-time status, be a single parent with at least one dependent child, complete the FAFSA, and enroll in a degree, certificate, or transfer program.
These Single Parent Scholarships are awarded in two payments of $500 each, once in the fall and once in the spring.
Deadline for these Single Parent Scholarships is May 1, 2010. To find out more information go here. Just hit the “financial aid” tab, “scholarships” tab, and then go to the “fall 2010″ tab. There you will find this as well as a host of other scholarship opportunities.
