Comcast Scholarship Looking for Applicants
Each year the Comcast Foundation and Comcast want the brighest high school seniors on their communities identified by high school principals and guidance counselors in order to motivate young people to achieve their potential with involvement in their school and communities to elicit a positive change. The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program award recipients a one-time grant of $1,000 to be used toward their pursuit of higher education. Since 2001, the program has recognized nearly 11,500 students around the country—and given away more than $11.5 million in scholarship grants.
This is not an easy scholarship to get as scholarship applicants must be nominated by their high school principals and guidance counselors or even home schooling instructors. They seek positive individuals who have a positive impact on their community. Grade point average has to be a 2.8 or higher to receive this scholarship. This is not a financial need scholarship and the number or scholarships awarded varies and is determined by the Comcast scholarship panel. In 2009 nearly $1.9 million in scholarships was awarded by Comcast.
The deadline for the 2010 Leaders and Achievers nominations is December 11, 2009, and winners will be announced at the end of January 2010. For more information visit here.
