Having a career in the healthcare fields is about taking care of others and Tylenol wants to help students who are pursuing a degree in a health-related field pay for their education by giving these students a chance at the Tylenol Scholarships.

Tylenol Scholarships are in their 18th year of helping students pay for their education. And this year, they will be awarding $250,000 in scholarships.

These Tylenol Scholarships are open to anyone getting their education in the healthcare field and does qualify as one of the scholarships for dads, as many dads are having to reinvent themselves and change their career paths right now. And the healthcare industry is a perfect career choice, as nurses, physician assistants, and other fields are now in high demand.

If you love blueberries, and who doesn’t, and you are a high school senior in the blueberry region of North Carolina, you can apply for the scholarship for blueberry lovers. Actually, you do not have to love blueberries, but you do have to write an essay on why blueberries are the perfect food or why blueberries are the perfect plant.

Up to $20,000 in North Carolina Scholarships will be awarded at the 2010 Blueberry Festival in North Carolina. Public, private and home school students who reside or attend high school in New Hanover, Pender, Bladen, Duplin and Sampson counties are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

The winner of this blueberry scholarship will be based on the following criteria:
1. Senior in secondary education.
2. Reside or attend school in one of the above-stated North Carolina Counties.
3. Write and submit an essay on the above topic.
4. Acceptance into an accredited two or four year college or university.
5. Full-time student status (minimum of 12 credit hours/semester).

You do not have to be pursuing a degree in Agriculture to qualify for this scholarship.

Applications are now being accepted by Ameren Illinois Utilities for their minority scholarships. This Illinois Scholarship will be awarded will be one $2500 minority scholarship to one permanent resident of areas serviced by AmerenCIPS, AmerenCILCO and AmerenIP.

Applicants should be high school seniors accepted to an accredited 2 or 4-year institution of higher learning. Winner of this minority scholarship will be based on high school GPA/scholastic ability, financial need, and career choice.

Students applying for this scholarship must major in an engineering field, have a GPA of at least 2.667, and be a permanent resident of one of the above areas. Winner will receive $1250 a semester, which will be sent directly to the college. The scholarship winner will be provided the option of working at Ameren each summer in the capacity of a summer intern, starting after the completion of his/her freshman term. When feasible, students will receive work assignments consistent with their field of study.

Volunteer Scholarships for Students in Boston

High school seniors living in Dedham MA and planning to attend an institution of higher learning after graduation are welcome to apply for the volunteer scholarships in Massachusetts.

There are two awards available including the Student Volunteer Award for $1000 and the Past Presidents’ Award for $500. Only children of current DJWC members are eligible for the Past Presidents’ Award.

The winners of these volunteer scholarships is based on volunteer service, extra-curricular activities, work experience that supports your educational goals, and membership in organizations and committees. Also considered will be academic performance and need.

For those gifted, accelerated students, staying in high school for four years could be a thing of the past. For students who catch on quickly or find high school without academic challenge, in some states they may be able to graduate early and get a scholarship to boot.

According to the Associated Press: “Idaho lawmakers have proposed giving scholarships to high school students who enroll in college early. Eight other states are participating in a program that would let high school sophomores pass a series of tests and graduate early. A Utah lawmaker went so far earlier this year as to propose letting students skip their senior year. ” Wow!! I sure wish this had been a option when I was in school. I always felt that so much time was wasted on learning things that really would not benefit me in the future.

But the plan in Idaho is a little more bold than other proposed plans throughout the country. In Idaho, students could graduate up to three years early and on top of that receive taxpayer money to enroll at a state university or community college. So how much could students receive? The amount of the scholarships would be approximately $1,600 in scholarship money for each year they graduate early.

Of course, this could get some taxpayer feathers ruffled, but already many high schools across the country allow students to start taking college courses, some on taxpayer’s dime, as early as their junior year in high school. Again, I wish this had been the case when I was in school. To think that you could actually graduate from high school with at least one college year under your belt already.

In Idaho, this scholarship plan has already passed the House but remains to be passed by the Senate.

According to Associated Press: “From New Mexico to Pennsylvania, eight states nationwide are participating in a pilot program that would allow high school sophomores to graduate early, thus getting a head start on community college. The program, spearheaded by the National Center on Education and the Economy, would include 10 to 20 high schools in each state and start in 2011. Connecticut, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont are also participating.”

Though some are opposed to letting kids as young as 16 attend college for fear of “growing up too soon” others feel that a plan such as this may help those driven and gifted students get a head start and avoid getting “lost” due to boredom and lack of challenges in the school setting.

Each Oil Can Henry’s center will be awarding a $1000 scholarship to high school seniors who live in the states in which an Oil Can Henry’s station is located.

In order to qualify for one of these scholarships you must be a graduating high school senior who lives in one of the communities that the company serves. You must also plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year high learning institution including vocational schools in the 2010/2011 school year.

Up to 84 $1000 scholarships will be awarded. But if a location does not have anyone apply for scholarships from that location, then the money will go unused.

Green County students are encouraged to apply for the Illinois Scholarships available from the Sheriff’s Association. The scholarship is worth $500 and there will be $53,000 worth of scholarships awarded.

In order to qualify, applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student at a college or place of higher learning in the state of Illinois. You must be a permanent resident of Illinois but other than that, there are no restrictions on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin. Which means even if you are searching for scholarships for dads and live in Illinois, this may be one for you.

Some of the scholarships are based on financial need, ethnic background, field of study, academic achievement, community service, athletic involvement, and having a relative who was a graduate of a Humboldt County high school or who is a current Humboldt State University employee.

There are also scholarships for current high school seniors to help them prepare for college.

Some local franchises of Dunkin’ Donuts is offering Dunkin’ Donut scholarships.

Currently the Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship is only available for students in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and in Bristol, Hamden, Hampshire and Franklin counties in Massachusetts. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of “well-rounded” character: positive academic record, demonstrated leadership, commitment to school and community activities, and experience in a work environment.

In Connecticut, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees will award 100 $1,000-scholarships to qualified high school seniors.

The North Dakota Farm Bureau has a variety of Agriculture Scholarships available to graduate students, college students, and high school students.

The graduate student agriculture scholarship is for those students pursuing a masters or doctorate and is valued at $1000. There is a family member and college student agriculture scholarships, each valued at $500. And the scholarship for high school seniors is valued at $250.

To apply for this North Dakota Scholarship, applicants need to be well-rounded students with a GPA of 3.0 or better and should maintain quality involvement in a balance of extracurricular activities and service activities plus demonstrates leadership ability and potential.
