Residents of San Antonio or Bexar County are encouraged to apply for the Hispanic Scholarships for Journalism Majors.

In order to qualify for this California journalism scholarship, applicants must be a resident of San Antonio or Bexar County OR attend a college or university in San Antonio. You must also demonstrate financial need and be a journalism or communications major or commit to pursue a career in the communications industry, (broadcast, print, advertising, public relations, photojournalism, graphic arts, multimedia or online journalism).

But, you do not have to be of Hispanic descent, although, those of color are encouraged to apply for this Hispanic Scholarship. And high school seniors as well as college students may apply.

Minority Scholarship in Illinois

Applications are now being accepted by Ameren Illinois Utilities for their minority scholarships. This Illinois Scholarship will be awarded will be one $2500 minority scholarship to one permanent resident of areas serviced by AmerenCIPS, AmerenCILCO and AmerenIP.

Applicants should be high school seniors accepted to an accredited 2 or 4-year institution of higher learning. Winner of this minority scholarship will be based on high school GPA/scholastic ability, financial need, and career choice.

Students applying for this scholarship must major in an engineering field, have a GPA of at least 2.667, and be a permanent resident of one of the above areas. Winner will receive $1250 a semester, which will be sent directly to the college. The scholarship winner will be provided the option of working at Ameren each summer in the capacity of a summer intern, starting after the completion of his/her freshman term. When feasible, students will receive work assignments consistent with their field of study.
